Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (born December 28, 2001) is a Canadian actress and Social media influencer. She is known for her leading role as Devi Vishwakumar in the Netflix teen comedy series Never Have I Ever (2020–present) and as Priya Mangal in the Pixar film Turning Red (2022).
Maitreyi was born and raised in the Ontario city of Mississauga. She was born to Tamil parents who fled Sri Lanka’s civil conflict and emigrated to Canada as refugees. She identifies as Tamil Canadian as opposed to Sri Lankan. She attended Lisgar Middle School for elementary school and Meadowvale Secondary School for high school.
In her senior year at Meadowvale, Ramakrishnan decided to pursue an acting career and was cast in the Netflix adolescent comedy series Never Have I Ever less than a year later. So that she could film the series in Los Angeles, she deferred her acceptance to the theatrical program at York University in Toronto, where she had planned to enroll in the fall following her high school graduation. In 2021, she postponed her acceptance for a second time and switched her major to human rights and equity studies.
