Beatrice Love is a 36-year-old Soul/R&B singer/songwriter hailing from Treaty 8 territory (Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation reserve #455/Horse Lake First Nation reserve #449) in Edmonton, Alberta. Growing up in a family of musicians, Beatrice’s father played a significant role in instilling a love for music in her from a young age.
B Love, as she is commonly known, has a unique vocal style that has been described as a cross-pollination of velvety smoothness and sorrowful raspiness. This combination is both addictive and captivating. Adrian Rezza, a music critic, likened her voice to a blend of Janis Joplin’s and James Brown’s, calling it “the perfect combination of whiskey and cigarettes.”
Beatrice’s music reflects her Indigenous roots, and she believes that it can motivate and soothe the wounds inherited by being Indigenous. Her soulful and emotive music has taken her across Turtle Island, from Vancouver, BC, to North Dakota.
B Love has had several performance highlights throughout her career, including being a semi-finalist in the 2023 season of Canada’s Got Talent, which was broadcasted on City TV. In 2019, she hosted and performed at the Indigenous Music Awards and gave the final performance at the Indspire Awards.
Beatrice Love’s music is a testament to her passion for singing and songwriting. With her unique sound and powerful lyrics, she continues to captivate audiences across Canada and beyond.
