Ariana Grande-Butera (born June 26, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Her four-octave vocal range has been praised by critics, and the media has paid a lot of attention to her personal life. During her career, she has won many awards, including two Grammys, one Brit Award, one Bambi Award, two Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, and 27 Guinness World Records.
Ariana Grande-Butera was born in Boca Raton, Florida, on June 26, 1993. She is the daughter of Joan Grande, who was born in Brooklyn and is the CEO of Hose-McCann Communications, which has been in the Grande family since 1964 and makes communications and safety equipment, and Edward Butera, who owns a graphic design firm in Boca Raton. Grande’s family is from Italy, and she has said that she is an Italian American with roots in Sicily and Abruzzese. She has an older half-brother named Frankie Grande, who is an entertainer and producer. She is close with her grandmother, Marjorie Grande, who is her mother’s mother. Before she was born, her family moved from New York to Florida. When she was 8 or 9, her parents split up.
When her parents were season ticket holders for the Florida Panthers in 1998, two stray hockey pucks hit her on both wrists, leaving her with small bruises both times. The second time was when the Panthers played their first regular-season game at National Car Rental Center on October 9, 1998. During the first intermission, she was the first child to ride a Zamboni in the brand-new arena because her parents won an auction for $200. A photograph of her on the Zamboni was featured in the South Florida SunSentinel the next day. At the Panthers’ home game against the Chicago Blackhawks on January 16, 2002, she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the first time. She was only 8 years old.
Grande started out on stage as a young child with the Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theater. Her first role was as Annie in the musical Annie. She also acted in their productions of The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast. At the age of eight, she sang in a karaoke lounge on a cruise ship and with orchestras like South Florida’s Philharmonic, Florida Sunshine Pops, and Symphonic Orchestras. She went to Pine Crest School and then North Broward Preparatory during this time.
The singer/actress Ariana Grande honed her craft while seeking a career in the entertainment industry. Her 2011 track “Put Your Hearts Up” was dedicated to this sentiment (she later disparaged the song and music video for its teen vibe). Two years later, she released her debut album, Yours Truly, which featured the hit single “The Way,” a collaboration with rapper Mac Miller. The record was so well received that it opened at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. A lot of people have been comparing Ariana Grande to Mariah Carey because of her R&B-influenced pop music and her amazing vocal range.
Because of this, Grande started concentrating more on her music. Her breakthrough as a pop sensation occurred with the 2014 release of her second studio album, My Everything. Artists including The Weeknd, Iggy Azalea, and Childish Gambino contributed to the album, which also debuted at number one (Donald Glover). Grande received her first Grammy Award nominations with the album My Everything and the single “Bang Bang,” which featured Jessie J and Nicki Minaj.
For her 2016 album, Dangerous Woman, Grande once again collaborated with industry heavyweights including Lil’ Wayne and Nicki Minaj. More than twenty people were killed by a suicide bomber during one of her concerts in Manchester, England, in May 2017 during her tour in promotion of the album. Grande then held a concert to raise money for the victims. Famous people including Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and Miley Cyrus were there. Dangerous Woman Diaries is a four-part documentary series that Grande uploaded on YouTube in 2018. There were highlights from the recording of her forthcoming album, Sweetener, as well as behind-the-scenes footage from the tour (2018).
The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, just like two of Grande’s three prior efforts (Dangerous Woman peaked at number two). Among the tracks featured were “God Is a Woman,” “No Tears Left to Cry,” and “The Light Is Coming,” the latter of which also featured Minaj. A Grammy was awarded to Sweetener for the best pop vocal album due to the album’s critical praise. Thank U, Next is Ariana Grande’s 2019 album. Personal details were revealed in tracks like the title tune, “Ghostin,” and “7 Rings.” Positions, her sixth studio album, was released in 2020. During this time, Grande also contributed her voice to the works of other musicians; her duet with Lady Gaga on “Rain on Me” (2020) earned them the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance, her second Grammy win. The Voice, a television singing competition, hired Grande as a coach in 2021.
