The Tamil film industry mourns today. G. Marimuthu, renowned character actor and director, has tragically passed away. A sudden cardiac arrest claimed the 57-year-old’s life at 8:30 a.m. His bereaved family includes his wife and two children.

From Aspirations to Stardom

In 1990, Marimuthu fled his Pasumalaitheri home in Theni. Dreaming of filmmaking, he headed to Chennai. Initially, he served as lyricist Vairamuthu. Later on, he collaborated with influential figures like Raj Kiran, Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and S. J. Surya. His big break came as a co-director for Silambarasan’s ‘Manmadhan’.

Directorial Ventures

‘Kannum Kannum’, starring Prasanna and Udhayathara, marked Marimuthu’s directorial debut. Sadly, box office numbers weren’t favorable. Another film under his direction was ‘Pulivaal’ in 2014.

A Shift to the Limelight

Marimuthu transitioned into acting with ‘Yuddham Sei’ by Mysskin. He shone brightly in films like ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘Vikram’, and ‘Jailer’. Yet, his portrayal of Aadhimuthu Gunasekaran in ‘Ethirneechal’ on Sun TV skyrocketed his fame in Tamil regions.

Anticipated Projects and Heartfelt Condolences

The late actor had projects like ‘Indian 2’ in the pipeline. Today, we and the entire Tamil film fraternity lament this great loss. May his soul rest in peace.
