ABC’s hit music competition series, “American Idol,” is set to return for its sixth season. The show, which initially pioneered the music competition genre and revolutionized the television landscape, will feature superstar judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie. The judges will play a vital role in determining who America will ultimately vote to become the next singing sensation.
Emmy® Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest will return to host the beloved competition series. Last season, “American Idol” ranked as the No. 1 program in the Sunday 8-10 p.m. time slot among Adults 18-49. Additionally, the show won its time period for the third straight year in Adults 18-49 and was ABC’s No. 1 program in Total Viewers.
The show is produced by Fremantle and 19 Entertainment, which is a part of Sony Pictures Television. Executive producers include Megan Michaels Wolflick, who will also serve as showrunner, and Fremantle’s Jennifer Mullin. Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman will serve as executive producers for 19 Entertainment. Fremantle distributes the series worldwide.
